I loved it! I got the ribs, mac n cheese and collard greens. Couldn't have been happier. Delicious!

Fort Collins is somewhat limited on BBQ. And Moes is always a Familiar name. So in we ventured. They had specials and a Happy Hour on beer Plus Football was on. I went with the Pulled Pork meal. With Potato Salad and Baked beans. My Friend had the Bbq Chicken. I always think the portions could be a little bigger for the price you pay. And the Cornbread is Delicious as always. Sure there are better places out there but again FoCo is limited for BBQ.

As you can see by my rating, I love Moe's. I'm a chef and Moe's is where me and my chef friends choose to spend our money. Moe's is great because they never pretend to be anything more than what they are, which is a local BBQ joint. The food that they make takes hours and sometimes even days to prepare. You have to really care to make food like this. You can't just toss it on the grill and serve it on a white plate. You have to put in the effort to give people food with actual depth and flavor. Every delicious smokey bite makes me grateful that someone cares so much about my simple little bbq sandwich. So give me a basket, a cheeky bartender, a shot of Makers, and a plastic fork; and I'll just fine at Moe's.

Favorite BBQ place in Fort Collins! Nordy's used to be my favorite but then Moe's was recommended to me and it beats Nordy's. The food is affordable and tastes great! The banana pudding is awesome and my boyfriend loves the garlic mashers. They also have a patio and we got to bring our dog, and we love that! We will be back many times over the summer!

They actually serve greens!!! It's comfortable in there, the food is good earlier in the day and the music playing was good. The only bad experience was some cheeky server who was a smartass to us during the fall. Hopefully he no longer works there.

This has to be the best BBQ place in Northern Colorado. From atmosphere to taste, it is as close to authentic as your gonna get without going to the South! I like that they have rotating side dishes, though I really wish they would make their collard greens a regular menu item, since that is one of my favorite sides by them! Today I went in and ordered a 2 entree combo getting the Brisket and Spicy Sausage Links was my main dish (Both were AWESOME!!!) , with my sides as the Turkey Gumbo and some Sweet Potato Sticks... It was all VERY Tasty! I think that the only bad thing about this place is the parking, since it is Old Town... Oh well... I can't wait for when it gets warmer and they have show on the patio! That and some ice cold beers really hit the spot!!! The only other complaint I have is that the Sweet Tea is not sweet enough, it's almost perfect but not quite there... Anyways, if you are in Fort Collins and craving some Southern BBQ, Moe's is the place to go!!!

Best BBQ place in Fort Collins. I was a butcher for 2 years, so naturally I'm really picky with BBQ. I had the Shredded Pork sandwich with baked beans and coleslaw. First through last bite were spectacular. If you want a relaxed environment and great BBQ, then stop at Moe's. Guaranteed you won't be disappointed!

Great BBQ joint. I love the brisket, although it is sometimes very fatty. Pulled pork sandwich is really good. The baked beans are very flavorful and sometimes spicy. Skillet corn is a nice spicy treat as well. I like to cool it down with some amazing banana pudding. You order and pay at the counter, but they provide adequate service afterwards, checking on you after the bring you your meal. I always leave full and usually happy.

Love this place! Favorite meal: 2 Meat (Wings & Catfish) side (black eyed peas) & Tuesday night kid's eat free.

What I enjoyed at Moe's before our New Belgium Brewery tour: Pulled pork sandwich which was excellent with a few pickles on it, fried green tomatoes, and cornbread with jalapeños. The fried green tomatoes were great and I am thinking of trying to make them at home. Make sure you order when you first walk in...we sat down and then realized that you had to give your order when you arrive. The sandwich, sides, and a drink were $10. The only wish I had was that they had unsweetened iced tea instead of sweetened. Just a personal choice!

They really care. Food is great. Fried green tomatoes, grits, brisket, turkey pulled pork etc. Sides are small and served in the weird little plastic cups. It is also pricey except for Thursday where they have the cheapest and best wings. Tall can PBRs top it off...

We were excited to stumble upon Moe's about 3 months ago after having eaten at all the other locals places and not enjoying any local BBQ. The first time we ate, the brisket and pulled pork were delicious. We've eaten there about 4-5 times since and it's gotten progressively worse to the point that after tonight's take-out, we won't be returning. During those 4-5 times after our first time at Moe's the food has been hit or miss. There's inconsistency with the meats because sometimes it's dry and other times it's moist. We've also experienced some of the sides tasting fresh, and other times you could tell that the mac & cheese had been either sitting out, or reheated from a previous day. Tonight's meal was the straw that broke our backs. We were anticipating having this meal for a couple weeks, so this was a huge disappointment. When we got home the "serving" sizes of the meats were smaller than our to-go sides. Very upsetting especially when it's not cheap. When you have to order or make additional food after you've eaten at a restaurant, it's never a good thing. You can be certain that I will gladly share this experience with others, and I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Sauce was excellent, chicken was very good. Pork and brisket were kind of dry, sides were nothing special, and the guys who work there are...strange. A friend from Alabama talked this place up and he was right about the sauce but maybe he set my expectations too high with the rest of the food.

Awesome atmosphere, friendly service, amazing smoked meats. Wings are insane and staff was very knowledgable of the full menu. Also nice collection of chihuahua photos.

Certainly the best option for Bar B Que on the north side of Fort Collins. The smoker is almost always running, a good sign indicating small batches to keep the meats fresh. The meats are served with just a little sauce on top for garnish. Not enough to penalize them for hiding the meat behind the sauce. The meats here can and do stand on their own. The sauce is true to the company's Alabama roots. Lots of vinegar, not too sweet, and a little bit of heat from pepper and chili. I would describe the sauce as showing the regional transition from your tomato based Kansas region to the mustard/ vinegar Carolina styles. Alabama is pretty much in between. After the last two visits, I have tried the brisket, turkey, chicken, and pulled pork. As expected, the meats that are "less healthy" tasted the best. The Brisket: Nice smoke ring with a good outer char/ crust that is just enough texture and flavor without coming across as grit. Good lean cuts of meat too. Moe's cooks the brisket and pork correctly for long periods of time so the fat actually cooks down and moistens the meat. You will not have to deal with rubbery blobs attached to your protein here! The meat is also cooked to the correct tenderness. The brisket passed the test: sits limp over the knife without breaking, but yet pulls apart without having to saw it. The Pork: Very tasty and not over seasoned. No gristley bits. The birds: I recommend the smoked turkey. The wood Moe's uses pairs well with the turkey which is served in nice thick slabs. The chicken (in the platter form) is served as half a bird, so you have to pick around the bones and deal with dark meat. The sides: All the sides are pretty good. Baked beans have a hint of chili in them for a nice undertone of heat. The slaw is prepared deep south style with apple cider vinegar instead of mayonnaise, so overall a healthy version. If you like chili, try the Pork Green Chili. Nice and thick and very meaty. A little too much smoke for my taste that seemed to undercut the woody roast flavor I wanted to get from the Green Chilies. Cornbread is seasoned with jalepenos and grilled before serving. The grilling gives it a nice crust on one side and helps highlight the sweetness/ spice paring in the recipe. The place is ran by pretty much the same staff every shift. Friendly, hard working and always interested in your satisfaction.

My go-to for BBQ!!! I love the attitude of the place and the staff. Everything that I have ordered has surpassed my expectations by a mile . I tell everybody about this place whenever a moderately priced lunch/dinner recommendation is needed. The sides are amazing!!! When it's on the menu, you can't go wrong with the pork green chile which I promptly mix with the Mac and cheese. If cash is extra tight, just go for the $5 pulled pork sandwich.

  • Dion R.

Had lunch there yesterday. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides. Sandwich and sauce was excellent. Mac and cheese was a dry scoop stuck together with some kind of dried out bread mixed in. I'd guess it was at least a week old and inedible. Beans were ok but serving the Mac and cheese in that condition makes me question the quality and cleanliness of the kitchen

  • Katie W.

These guys make the best wings you'll ever eat. They are smoked first and then deep fried. They aren't weighed down with a bunch of different sauces, just really freaking good bbq wings. The sides are great as well. The staff is always friendly, and it's pretty affordable. And the pork belly sandwich - definitely a "do."

  • Ian J.

This is the best barbecue I've had in Fort Collins. Their pulled pork sandwich is delicious. Beans are spiced just right and the potato salad is great. I spent 12 years living in KC and around 10 in TX before that. This might not beat out locations in either of those places but it is more than passable with flavorful meats and good sides.

    (4)
  • Sean M.

Meh... The best way I can describe our experience here. The sides were really awful... How do you mess up macaroni and cheese? The only redeeming quality was the brisket and pulled pork on our sandwiches. The meat itself was tender and flavorful. Just a shame the sauce, bread and sides let it all down.

  • Lisa B.

Order at the bar when you walk in, then sit down. The portions were large, food was served quickly. Bartender, server were super friendly. LOVED the mac and cheese side and the BBQ beans were amazing. Meat was done well. The BBQ sauce has a more vinegar vs sweet taste. Wings were dry rubbed and large. Corn bread was grilled with a little jalapeno kick. Overall very satisfying.

The only thing that I considered edible is the Mac and Cheese. I've had better fast food BBQ than what this place serves.

  • Alden C.

I may not be a big aficionado when it comes to BBQ because it is usually not my food of choice at all. I don't hate it but I would much rather have something else most of the time. I did decide to give Moe's a try and I wasn't disappointed. I mean I have had better BBQ elsewhere but this place was very do-able. I have a secret and hidden vulnerability to pulled pork sandwiches so that is what I got. It was tasty and I got two sides which was banana pudding and greens. The wait staff was friendly. I walked away with no complaints and satisfied. I would not hesitate in going back should the mood fits for BBQ again.

Good food, relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, and big food proportions. I use to live in Kansas City and this place in FoCo offers good barbecue!

The only thing that was good was the cornbread...but I could be a little harsh. I am from KC.

Being from the south I have high expectations for BBQ which haven't yet been met here in CO...until today. I really wanted BBQ so we decided to try to Moe's for dinner. I had the ribs, brisket, mac & cheese, potato salad and cornbread...and of course SWEET TEA! This is one of the FEW places in Fort Collins that actually has prepared sweet tea. The meat was delicious.....tender, full of flavor, no sauce needed. However, I am a sauce type of girl and their sauce just topped it all off and made my bbq loving taste buds sing. YUM!! The sides were delicious too...totally southern style! As one of the other comments mentioned, the sweet tea is ALMOST perfect. Needs to be a tidbit sweeter ;). We will definitely be back. My type of place and fantastic BBQ!

  • Lane T.

Best barbecue in all of Fort Collins. The dry rub, smoked wings are amazing. Actually everything is amazing. True southern Alabama style barbecue. Good drink specials, great daily specials I love the Thursday thanksgiving sandwich with smoked turkey, slaw, dressing and more. Tell Ted I said hi. Oh... Great patio with a horseshoe pit!

Go there for lunch. Order the brisket sandwich. If you don't like it, please report yourself to Yelp so they can close your account and ensure you don't confuse anyone else with your damaged taste buds.

My wife (who is gluten free) and I love the bbq here. The surf 'n turf sandwich is awesome! Shrimp and pulled pork? Who would've thought... You're not going to get overly cheerful, fake hospitality, just good 'ol 'Bama bbq. Their homemade sides are delicious as well.

  • Krissie P.

I very much enjoy this place. I wouldnt bring a pit boss here... but its good food. LOVE the cornbread and brisket. Mac and cheese is hit and miss... First time i had it- i wanted to swim in it... last time... not so much. i look forward to visiting again and having a dog and playing some horse shoes outback... give it a shot!

  • Danielle M.

YUM! I had the jerk chicken, fried green tomatoes and red beans and rice. The serving was huge! The chicken was awesome! Staff was friendly and the building was quaint and cool. I'm not a huge cornbread person but even that was good.

  • Sheph D.

This place is great for what it is. It is usually quite here and you get the food fast 5-10 minutes depending on what needs cooked to order.

  • B W.

Me: "Excuse me, what style of BBQ do you guys serve?" Ladies slouching over the counter with vacant expressions: "Everything I guess, Southern?" Wrong answer. I was looking for an answer like, Memphis, Carolina, Texas . . The food was OK, the service was not good and the atmosphere was not welcoming at all. The side portions were very small, served in cheap plastic sample cups and the food seemed like it had been sitting under warming lamps that weren't quite hot enough. I only went one time, so maybe I had a one-time bad experience, but I didn't see a reason to go back.

  • Craig L.

I love BBQ, I am barely satisfied with Moe's. The fare is ok at best. Big thumbs up for location and cleanliness but that is not what I am looking for in great BBQ, What I will say is that if you are in Old Town Fort Collins, this is passable BBQ within walking distance. That is the big draw here for me. If I am in a car and I have NOT been visiting all the breweries in town AND I decide I really need BBQ, I will make the 25 minute drive to BBQ Bob's in Loveland.

    (3)
  • Chelsea A.

Very disappointed. Way over priced!!! Their sides are small. Their sandwiches are small as well. When I get a $9.00 BBQ sandwich I expect it to come on a decent bun/texas toast. It came on a crappy bun that fell apart as soon as I took a bite into it. My boyfriend and I love BBQ and we both were disappointed. I would suggest going somewhere else.

What can I say? I dig Moe's. We love Moe's so much that we take all of our guests visiting the Fort to Moe's. We love Moe's so much we had them cater our wedding. I have no idea what type of BBQ this place is. I just know that it is delish! If you want finger-licking good BBQ that is reasonably priced don't pass Moe's up!

Have you ever gone to a movie after all of your friends just raved about it, saying that it was the best they'd ever seen and it made them laugh so hard they cried? All of the reviews that you read said pretty much the same thing - "best movie ever, a must see!" So, you buy your $9 ticket, a bucket of popcorn that costs just as much and look forward to a few hours of quality entertainment. For most of the time, you sit there with a dead-pan look on your face, double checking your ticket to make sure you're in the right movie. What the hell?? Everyone thought this was good? This is how I feel after eating at Moe's Original Bar B Que. Yes, I'll wait for the booing and hissing to stop. But it's true. I hear so many people talk about how much they love Moe's, I read the other reviews around town and I sit there wondering if we're talking about the same place. Don't get me wrong, it's not the worst I've ever had (and I've had some downright horrible BBQ here in Fort Collins) but it's not the shining star that people can't stop praising. Moe's is a Bama-style Barbecue, with a sauce that is mayo-based with lemon, vinegar and spices. It's a style that has been evolving since 1925. They smoke their meats with fruit wood and two sauces. Everything is made from scratch each morning and they have the largest selection of sides than any other BBQ place in town. All in all, and needless to say, we were not impressed. This wasn't a one-time visit for us, either. Everything is heavily salted and the meat has an odd moist texture. We left wondering why everyone likes this place so much. Did we all eat the same barbecue? I feel like I was ready to watch a hysterically funny comedy, only to leave without so much as a snort.

  • Em B.

We had Moe's cater or island themed wedding and the food turned out amazing! I asked for a green salad as a side even though its not something they typically do, it was full if fresh veggies, the meat was delicious as well as the other sides we had. Also almost everything they serve is gluten free so our family members that usually have to pick and choose what to eat due to gluten allergies were able to eat pretty much everything, except the Mac and cheese. Great service too!

  • Amanda M.

Whaaat? So disappointed in everything about our meal here. The brisket was so fatty we could barely eat it. The corn bread tasted like grease from the frier, even the coke was watered down! I will say the mac n cheese was good, but super salty. We were astonished, as we have NEVER had BBQ this bad.

    (1)
  • Perry M.

good food, for $11 I thought I should get larger portions. With a little effort this place could be awesome.

  • Kat P.

OK, So I was lured back to Moe's on the rumor of pickled eggs and cheap beer. And on a Saturday night, that's not so bad. Their eggs are actually pretty good...well they were gosh darn good!, and the folks were great, as the first time. As I work down town, I do pass this place from time to time, so when they had a BLT (with fried green tomatoes) I though...mmmmmm, I could try that. Oh. My. So, the "T" was, of course the Fried Green tomatoes. A couple of slices. Then the "L" was actually a scoop of their yummy coleslaw. The "B"? A 1/4" wedge of thick baconly goodness that was DEEP FRIED. Can you hear your arteries hardening yet? On a subsequent visit, I had the Shrimp Mo'Boy, a nice, lightly spicy sandwich with the aforementioned scoop of coleslaw. So, while I stand by my original BBQ review, the food is Very Good, and the service, excellent. So, I've upgraded the review, based on *all* the food.

I LOVE BBQ. It should be its own food group. So, when Moe's opened up in Plank's old location (and 5 blocks from my house) I was both hopeful of having another wonderful place near me and also concerned that I'd keep returning, and I'd gain so much weight that my ass would eat my pants. (sorry, run-on sentence) Well, I didn't quite get that wonderful BBQ place, but it's not at all bad either I liked the consistency of the pulled pork, the flat all-inclusive price of a meal ($9 for a sandwich meal means $9), how they used the space in the area, and the lack of overly campy BBQ cliches I was bummed out at the menu. My 2 favorite BBQ items are beef brisket and sausage. Guess what two items are not on the menu? They are more about BBQ shrimp, chicken, etc. And, maybe Nordy's spoiled me with the choice of BBQ sauce, but I was definitely missing that here. At least the good news is that my waistline will stay intact. That is, until Nordy's opens their old town location sometime in Spring 2010...

MMMMMmy favorite lunch in Old Town!. Actually...it's also one of my favorite bars too. I work right down the street at Kapital Real Estate and bring my clients there a lot. We sit on the front patio and chow down, and great people watching too. This place MUST be tried. Go with the smoked turkey, sausage and cheese grits, and the unbelievable homemade banana puddin. Ask for Ted, he is the owner and he is pretty cool.

I liked the food, the staff understood Gluten Free.

  • Diane W.

Quality BBQ and fair price. Don't know what other reviewers were complaining about, because there was both brisket and sausage. Also many authentic BBQ places in the south (and I'm a southern girl) don't offer more than 2 options for sauces. Once you go past 2 it gets tricky, and sauce is just that sauce. If you have to cover the meat in sauce to make it taste good, then there is something wrong with the meat. The marinated slaw was an awesome twist on a traditional side. Check it out.

  • Jon B.

Good looking joint. If only the food matched the vibe. Not in the same universe as Souza's. Not nearly as good as Nordy's for that matter. It has its rabid fans, to be sure, so perhaps they taste something I don't -- but I've had two meals here and both were, to be kind, sub-par.

Finally BBQ in Old Town Fort Collins! This place has a great vibe/feel to it with indoor/outdoor seating. I like the order at the counter and don't pay a tip style! The food is pretty good, but they don't normally have brisket?? Sides are a bit small and too many onions in the sandwiches. But, I like the variety of sides (some unique selections) and the BBQ is pretty good. Competition is coming with Nordy's BBQ coming in 6 doors down. Hope Moe's can survive the competition!

  • Al H.

There are many kinds of BBQ, and this is more of the southern hint-of-vinegar style sauce which isn't at all spicy. So if you like that style of BBQ, then you must try Moe's. Moe's BBQ is always hot, moist, high quality, and best of all, fresh!!! My favorites are the Brisket and Pork sandwiches. You can add some ribs to your plate for a few dollars extra. The corn bread is of the sweet variety, toasted on one side. They have a standard set of sides (beans, slaw, mac-n-cheese, ...) and some sides-of-the-day. (For example, fried green tomatoes). If you happen to be in on a day they have the Pork Chili, don't miss the chance to try it. (It's a bit spicy, no beans, and very delicious). I haven't tried a Moe Dog, but they look tasty. (Hot dog on a bun, covered with some pulled pork, slaw, pickles, and BBQ sauce). Just two doors south of Al's Newsstand.

I recently ate at Moes Original in Old Town. For starters, this is a big leap for me having never been impressed with BBQ in Colorado. Walking in, the atmosphere was perfect- downhome with style. The music was blues and the staff friendly. The open kitchen was a plus as you get to see the smoker being used. The menu was written on a board(like it should be). I ordered a "bama style" pulled pork sandwich and a couple of sides which tasted great. The pork was perfectly smoked and not nearly as fatty as I expected, finally great bbq in Fort Collins! I cant wait to try everything else on the menu and I will be back- with friends!

was kinda hoping for a bit more here. reviews hadn't been that great but i was thinking maybe just maybe the place had an off day or two. turns out the people were right. not a worthy bbq place. another bbq bites the dust in foco. darn. went with a $10 bbq pork plate. the bbq was not flavored right, can't put my finger on how or why, it was just off. the sides didnt make up for it either. mac and cheese in a cup, gross, and a banana pudding with a nilla wafer that was in there just a tad too long, a week or so was my guess left what could have been ok, just plain iffy to eat. the corn bread was the best part, and that was just so so, although i believe that they had jalepenoes in it which was a nice touch. I wouldnt bother with this place.

Not too shabby for Colorado BBQ! Great atmosphere and friendly service. The pulled pork is excellent and be sure to try the marinated 'slaw. Wish they had a super hot bbq sauce. I'll be back for sure.

Ok People. Here is the deal about BBQ in Fort Collins - Nordy's and Famous Dave's are about the SAUCE, but Moe's is about the MEAT. Most, tender and delicately smoked, Moe's has the real deal. BBQ should be melt in your mouth good to the point where sauce is not even needed - its just a bonus. What type of BBQ? ALABAMA. Not familiar? Well now you have another reason to try Moe's. Make sure you get something that has the "white" BBQ sauce on it. I've had the ribs, smoked turkey, wings, brisket, "Moe Dog" and pulled pork and all were excellent, though the "Moe Dog" and the pulled pork are my current faves. But Southern girls don't just live on meat - we need CARBs. Cornbread comes with the platters, and it is grilled on one side sort of like Texas Toast. Beans, mac & cheese, tater salad and marinated cole slaw can be had any day (and they are all excellent), but what I really like are the "daily" sides - fried green tomatoes, pulled pork chili, black-eyed peas and collard greens were all to die for. Moe's has taken these deep-south favorites to a new level. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I had the shrimp mo'boy and it was delicious although I wish it would have been a little bigger and not on small hamburger bun. My friend had the smoked chicken-it was ok..definitely could've been left in the smoker a little longer. We had the collard greens and mac and cheese ( little bland). BBQ sauce was good and so was the $1 beer in cans. The guy at the front counter wasn't very friendly and seemed like he'd rather be somewhere else but there. For food 3 stars but service was more like 2 stars.....I've definitely had better bbq in this town.

I've been to the location in Eagle, CO plenty of times, and I'm a fan of the restaurant, but the only problem I had with this location is the bar was far too high. I was eating with my hands right below my chin with my elbows up, made me feel very foolish. That said, I do like the food and the tall cans of PBR.

Was working the Fort Collins Music Experiment this weekend and Moe's was kind enough to donate. The greatest wings I have had! My wife doesn't care for wings, I begged her to try, and she loved them. Will definately be going to try the rest of the menu.
